Bach Flower Remedies for the soul

My guide to the Bach Flower Remedies: Emotional support from nature

The Bach Flower remedies are a set 38 remedies made from flowers and plants that support the body in restoring balance and harmony within.

They cover our complete spectrum of emotions - and each remedy has a positive and negative state. We can easily fall into the pattern of the remedies dipping in and out on a day-to-day basis but sometimes we become stuck in a pattern that isn't serving us. We repeat the same patterns and attract situations that really highlight these feelings for us.

'Every single person has a life to live, a work to do, a glorious personality, a wonderful individuality.'

- Dr. Edward Bach

Some examples of how the remedies work

Similar to homeopathic and herbal remedies, the energy of the flowers and plants are captured in each bottle and the environment and essence of each plant reflects its strengths and how it can support us emotionally.

In this picture is the very beautiful White Chesnut tree. Much like the peaceful feeling you get when you look at these flowers this remedy helps to bring tranquillity and peace of mind to those that have unwanted thoughts constantly going around and around - kind of like a hamster in a wheel. It helps switch off the mental dialogue and bring you back to the present.

One of my favourite remedies is Olive. For those that feel depleted and exhausted, perhaps following a long period of strain whether that be physically or mentally (or both)! Most of us at some point have used a great deal of energy or have been over worked and this remedy is a lovely supportive one for restoration.

Each remedy resonates with a different thought, feeling or emotion where an individual may feel stuck and gently works to bring that pattern of thought back into balance.

Kinesiology and Bach Flower remedies

I had my very first Kinesiology session when I was about 20 years old. At the time I was working in a busy office environment under a lot of pressure. My kinesiologist tested an imbalance that related to my adrenal glands that were always over-working and putting my body in a state of fight or flight. I used to experience 'the shakes' and feel very wired most of the time. As well as some nutritional support and lovely energy corrections, my Kinesiologist also recommended the Bach Flower remedy 'Hornbeam' which very much relates to that Monday morning feeling - here we go again. I remember taking the remedy without really knowing why but feeling much more decisive, calm and empowered shortly after.

It is believed that many physical health problems are a result of thoughts and emotions that have been repressed over time the flower remedies are a key aspect of the Kinesiology treatment to really help address some of those stuck feelings.

The Remedies - which one would you pick?

I often ask my clients to pick a couple of bottles that they're drawn to... and 9 times out of 10 they somehow pick a remedy that is spot on! Other times I will get a hunch as to which remedies will support from speaking with my clients and getting an understanding of their feelings and beliefs.

Over the years I've used Bach Flower remedies within my Kinesiology sessions and it never ceases to amaze me how supportive they can be. I can feel that sense of relief from my clients when I read out the description and it 'hits the nail on the head' of just how they've been feeling. Sometimes they're needed just for that session and other times individuals benefit from taking them for a longer period of time.

The 7 Categories

The range of remedies fall in to 7 categories and I have included a summary table below that includes a brief description of the emotions each remedy supports. I wonder which ones resonate with you today.

Where can I get them from?

You can pick up the remedies from local health food shops, on-line from various websites and even in Boots. They're usually around £7-8 each and while they are not intended to replace medical treatment, they are safe to be used alongside and compliment any other form of medicine.

The FAQ section on the official Bach Flower website answers lots of questions around how to take them and mixing the essences. See link here - https://www.bachremedies.com/en-gb/explore/faqs/
